BROOKLAND, ARK — Tonight the Brookland Bearcats will face the Manila Lions in the home opener at Jordan’s Kwik-Stop Stadium. Some things, though, are bigger than football.
Tonight will be the Military and First Responder Appreciation Night in Brookland. Both Brookland and Manila will be wearing digital camouflage jerseys donated by the Arkansas National Guard.
The Brookland Football Booster Club will be tailgating starting at 3:15 P.M. across from the football field. The Arkansas National Guard will have a bouncing house and an obstacle course set up as well.
Any first responders or military personnel at the game will be recognized before kickoff for their service in their respective field, as well as a moment of silence for those who have paid for our safety with their lives.
A Survival Flight helicopter will fly in with the game ball, which will be presented to the father of Brookland’s head coach, Chuck Speer. Speer’s father is a decorated veteran, and will also be the honorary captain for the coin toss.
The Jonesboro Police Department motorcycle unit will lead the Bearcats out of the tunnel and onto the field prior to kickoff.
Thank you to all of our service men and women that have made it possible for us to enjoy sporting events because of their commitment to our safety and freedom on our behalf.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 P.M. in Brookland.
