TRUMANN, ARK — Pocahontas will be on the road for the third time in four games this week when they travel to Trumann to face the undefeated Wildcats in the first conference game of the season.
When conference play starts, a new season does too. The hunt for the playoffs starts here.
Trumann comes into this game boasting a 3-0 record after knocking off Hoxie, Manila and Paragould.
Pocahontas has struggled some to this point, losing to tough competition in Nettleton and Osceola. They sit at 1-2 thanks to a big win over Paragould (full article here) in week 2.
Trumann is one of the hottest teams in the 4A-3 conference, having outscored their opponents by a combined 117-54. That equates to an average score of 39-18.
Pocahontas, on the other hand, has been outscored 115-91 through three games. Don’t let that fool you, though. The Redskins are a solid team. They just faced some very salty competition during their non-conference stretch.
This game may help to shape the playoff picture in the conference, but both teams appear as if they may be on their way regardless. This game will show us who these teams really are.
Pocahontas leads the all-time series 10-2, but stats and records don’t mean anything when it comes down to it.
Who will win this battle for a spot atop the 4A-3 standings? I guess we’ll find out.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 P.M. in Trumann Friday night.
