BROOKLAND, ARK – It’s Homecoming week in Brookland as the Bearcats try to get back on track after a conference loss to Gosnell. The Highland Rebels will be looking for their first win of the season when they travel to Brookland on Friday.

The Bearcats started their season on a three-game win streak before conference play started. In their 4A-3 opener, they were dismantled on the road by the Gosnell Pirates (1-3, 1-0 4A-3) 41-0. How will they respond when the Highland Rebels come to town?

Highland has had a rocky start to their season, but they hope to get back on track when they take on Brookland this week. The Rebels have yet to win a game this year, but two of their losses have come by a combined 10 points. This is a team that could easily be 2-2, but they sit at 0-4. Their conference opener was a 25-18 loss at home to Westside (3-1, 1-0 4A-3).

Historically, Highland has dominated this series, owning a 4-1 series lead. Brookland’s only win against the Rebels came during the 2015 season (the last game at Brookland between these two) by a score of 51-44.

The Bearcats come into this matchup averaging 32 points per game, while allowing 19 points per game. Highland is only averaging 10 points per game, while allowing 32 points per game.

Does Highland have what it takes to upset Brookland at their own Homecoming? Will Brookland earn their first conference win of the season and just their sixth all-time? Swing by Friday night or check our website Saturday morning to find out.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 P.M. Friday night at Brookland High School. SlingShot Sports will be in attendance.
