JONEBORO, ARK – Two teams tied for first place in the 4A-3 will face off Friday night. The undefeated Trumann Wildcats will visit the 3-1 Westside Warriors in a conference clash that could shape the playoff picture.
The visiting Wildcats come into this game with an unblemished 4-0 record, including a 1-0 conference record, after impressive wins over the likes of Hoxie, Manila, Paragould and Pocahontas. The average margin of victory for the Wildcats is an astounding 22 points in their four wins this season.
Westside may be their toughest opponent yet, though. The Warriors come into this game boasting a solid 3-1 record (1-0 in conference) after wins over Manila, Hoxie and Highland. Westside was a mere two points away from a 4-0 record, as they fell to Marked Tree by a final score of 28-27 in week 3.
The Trumann offense is averaging a colossal 42 points per game, while their defense is only allowing 20. Westside, on the other hand, is averaging a stellar 31 points per game, while allowing 20 points per contest as well.
This will be the first home game for the Warriors since their week 1 matchup against Manila, a 36-8 victory.
The winner of this contest is guaranteed at least a share of first place in the 4A-3 conference. Depending on how fellow first-place teams Gosnell (vs. Cave City) and Harrisburg (vs. Pocahontas) fare, the winner could end up with sole possession of first place.
The Wildcats own the all-time head-to-head advantage with a solid 11-4 series record.
The game is scheduled to kickoff at 7 P.M. at Westside High School in Jonesboro.
